Jones ton leads Auckland to State Championship (Stuff)

Wellington's bowlers failed to achieve the improbable at Eden Park's outer oval yesterday as they dipped to a seven-wicket loss to Auckland in the State Championship cricket final.

Heading into the fifth and final day needing 208 to win, Auckland resumed at 52-1 and comfortably reached the target, losing only two further wickets. Opener Richard Jones finished unbeaten on 114.
